Vail Friends of Dance Volunteer Opportunities
September - December, 2024
As a VFOD member, each family is required to volunteer a minimum of 55-hours over the course of the year (September - May). The majority of the volunteer opportunities occur leading up to and during The Nutcracker season. Sign Up Genius’s will be sent to sign up, as well as direct outreach from committee leads based on your areas of interest.
Below is an overview of the volunteer opportunities from September - December,
along with expectations and hours associated with each. Please fill out this form to indicate area(s) of interest.
VYBC Dancer Saturday Lunch (Edwards or Eagle studio; Sign-p via SignUp Genius)
Provide entire meal for 40 ppl, set up, clean-up 8 hours
Pick up sponsored lunch, set up, clean-up 3 hours
Nutcracker Audition Day Help, Sat. Sept. 7 1-3 hrs depending on shifts
Checking dancers in, collecting payment
Nutcracker Saturday Rehearsal Help 2-4 hrs based on shift Provide oversight of younger dancers with activity/costumes/practicing
VYBC Beaver Creek Photo shoot, Sat. Sept. 8 6 hours
Nutcracker Cast Photo Day, Sat. Nov. 2 2-4 hrs based shift
Wonderbound Dancer Outing Driver, Oct. 27 5 hours
Pointe Shoe Party, Sat. Nov. 16 (afternoon)
Organize, set up, clean up (2 people total) 3 hours
Provide 2 dozen snacks/beverages (4 people max) 2 hour/2 dozen
Nutcracker Logo Wear Distribution, Dec. 7 2 hours
Nutcracker Cast Lunch Party, Sat. Dec. 14
Set up, provide beverages, clean-up 3 hours
Bake Sale Items for Nutcracker
Provide 1 dozen baked goods/beverages 1 hour (Max. of 10 hours)
Nutcracker Front of the House 3 hours/performance
Bake Sale, Silent Auction, Pointe Shoe Table, Flowers, Boutique
Assist in setting up, work prior to, intermission and post-performance, clean up
Silent Auction Check Out 2 hours
Collect goods; check out winners post-performance
Nutcracker Back of the House
Dress Rehearsal Dressing Room 4-5 hours
Performance Dressing Room 4-5 hours
Sign In/Sign Out 1 hour/each
Load In of Set/Props/Costumes on Monday, Dec. 16 2 hours
Load out of Set/Props/Costumes on Sat, Dec. 21 2 hours
Delivery/load into storage unit on Sunday, Dec. 22 2 hours
Nutcracker Party Parent 30 hours
Attend rehearsals, dress rehearsals and performances (can watch part of performance)
Marketing
Nutcracker Poster Hanging in assigned area 2 hours per area
Nutcracker concierge visit in assigned area 2 hours per area
VFOD/VYBC/Nutcracker Social Media 10-30 hours
VIMEO Coordinator 10 hours
Tech savvy person to coordinate Nutcracker video upload into Vimeo, including cast list and preview. Set up prior; upload immediately following performance with distribution goal Dec. 25th.
Costume Committee - Saturdays at Studio/At Home TBD based on hours worked
Ad Sales/Sponsorship Committee Based on hours/revenue generated
Auction Committee TBD based on hours worked
