OUR MISSION

Vail Friends of Dance (VFOD) is a nonprofit organization based in the Vail Valley that is made up entirely of volunteers who are dedicated to the development of our local dancers. VFOD was founded 40 years ago, in 1984, by Denise Briner, Henry Hill, Joanne Morgan and Sybill Navas.

The initial mission was to serve as the liaison between Colorado Mountain College and its dance instructors. VFOD also began offering financial assistance to students for classes at CMC and elsewhere during the summer. The original vision of providing financial assistance, additional dance training and community outreach lives on in everything VFOD does today. VFOD is managed by a Board of Directors, comprised of volunteer members who meet on a monthly basis to discuss fundraising events, annual budgets and the distribution of funds.

Today, VFOD’S mission is dedicated to supporting and inspiring young dancers through education and financial assistance. VFOD supports VYBC by contributing time and funding for VYBC’s artistic directors, studio/theater rental, costume/equipment storage, studio/special master classes, choreography fees, production costs, financial aid, scholarships and social events.
